Last week, actor Dennis Quaid joined the ranks of celebrities with multiple properties on the market when as the Wall Street Journal reported he listed his ranch property in Emigrant, Montana. His home in Pacific Palisades, California had already been on the market since March. Quaid may soon be back to being a single seller however, that property is reportedly in escrow.
Quaid�s ranch is on a sprawling 418 acres and is listed for $14 million. The listing proudly proclaims it as Quaid�s ranch and says it has also been home to other celebrities. Quaid acquired various parcels of the current property from both Warren Oates and Sam Peckinpah.
The ranch is located in the Paradise Valley of Southwest Montana and offers a variety of recreational opportunities including fishing on Six Mile Creek and in two ponds as well as horseback riding on the ranch and in the National Forest adjoining the ranch. The property boasts incredible views and unmatched privacy. The estate includes an owners� residence, four guest houses, ranch manager�s home and horse facilities. There are also historic gold mines on the property as well as an observatory for enjoying the star-filled nights.
Quaid built the three-bedroom main house in 2000. The 5,315-square-foot home has wide-plank hardwood floors salvaged from the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 and massive fireplaces made of Montana stone. A feature in Architectural Digest on the home notes that Quaid picked up many of the home�s furnishings in his home base of Austin, Texas. Quaid married his current wife here in 2004 and is reportedly currently on the lookout for property in Hawaii. You can catch him on the big screen in the remake of �Footloose� where he stars a stern father opposite Andie MacDowell who also has a home on the market.
