Rosie ODonnell is taking a big bet on the success of her new Chicagobased television show for Oprah Winfreys OWN network. The Chicago Tribune reports that ODonnell is under contract to buy a charming five-bedroom home in the Lakeview area of Chicago which was listed for $2.5 million. The home was owned by an executive at the OWN Network who added a security system, home theater and a sports bar. The home also includes outdoor space with patios and a 2,000 square-foot roof deck. There is also a three-car heated garage so Rosie wont get too cold as she hunkers down for her first Chicago winter.
According to the Tribune, ODonnell told the audience at a test taping of The Rosie Show that she was buying the home with all of its furniture. The 6,000 square-foot home has enough room for Rosies four children. She shares custody with her ex-partner Kelli Carpenter who is based in Nyack, N.Y
Should Rosie need design inspiration for her new home she might want to take a look at the home of another of Oprahs friends. Frequent Oprah Winfrey Show guest interior designer, and host of his own show, Nate Berkus, still has his Chicago home on the market. It is currently listed at $2.15 million.
