Tartu Rebase Street was designed by Atelier Thomas Pucher. Created as a housing estate, the flexible concept located in Tartu, Estonia features 444 apartments. By building penthouses on top of each other, the architects managed to make two worlds collide: the low-cost apartment life and the luxurious villa lifestyle, with wide access to private outdoor spaces. Excluding the parking facilities, the projects total built surface reaches 29.200 square meters. The urban equivalent of villa living, the Tartu Rebase Street project encompasses a compact space, organized into zones: the middle part of each building contains a spiral staircase with apartments organized around it. There are two rings of space: the inner ring close to the lobby and the outer ring living zone oriented outwards to the panoramas. That allows the inner service ring to contain rooms like entrances, wardrobes, toilets, bathrooms and saunas, or kitchens that protect the living zones in the outer ring from the noise of the lobby. The flexible floor plan allows inhabitants to create personalized interiors that can last up to generations. Would you like to live in such an architectural hybrid?
