Teri Garr�s California Cottage

Actress Teri Garr�s charming California cottage has 2 bedrooms, 3 baths. She just sold it for an undisclosed amount, but it was on the market for $3.99 million. According to the listing:

Beyond the gates and gardens lies an irresistibly charming California cottage. Dramatic and private, this light filled home originally built in 1924 is in the heart of Brentwood Park. There are two bedroom suites, the master is glorious and fills the entire second floor. There is a cozy office, warm and wonderful living room and inviting kitchen. Several sets of French doors open to the rear garden with pool/spa + guest house above the garage.

Garr began her career as a dancer, becoming a regular performer on the Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour. Her first big film role was as Inga, the beautiful assistant in Young Frankenstein (with Gene Wilder):

She then had some career-making roles in movies like �Mr. Mom,� �Close Encounters of the Third Kind,� and �Oh, God!�

She snagged an Oscar nom for best supporting actress in Tootsie as the people-pleasing actress Sandy (with Dustin Hoffman) in �Tootsie.�

When I was in college, everyone used to gather on weeknights in the dormitory lounge to watch Letterman, and Garr was a frequent�and very funny�guest.

Big Time Listings broke the story that Teri Garr was selling her Brentwood house, explaining:

The enormously likable Garr, who sadly suffered a brain aneurysm in 2006 and also in 2002 had announced that she suffers from multiple sclerosis, told the Daily News of Los Angeles in an article that ran on April 21, 2008 that �the other day, a guy came to fix my computer, and I told him, �I�ve got good news and bad news. The bad news is I�ve got to sell my house because I can�t work. The good news is I�m walking.� He said, �I think the good news is much better than the bad news.� I have to look at it that way.�

In October 2002, Garr went public with her MS on �Larry King,� saying, �I�m telling my story for the first time, so I can help people. I can help people know they aren�t alone, and tell them there are reasons to be optimistic because today treatment options are available�.

She has become a leading advocate in raising awareness for MS and the latest treatments for the disease and a National Ambassador for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Gwyneth Paltrow�s House in the Hamptons

This was the last cover of House & Garden before the mag folded late last year. Since House & Garden is now gone and so is its website, I thought I�d show the photos of her Hamptons house for those of you who missed them. I think her house looks like it belongs to her, which is always refreshing when it comes to the big-time celebs. Take a look and let me know if you agree.

Apple�s bedroom:

I�m sure you know she�s married to Chris Martin of Coldplay, and that they have two children together, Apple and Moses (if there were ever two sibling names that don�t seem to really go together�). �Moses� is her father�s Hebrew name. Bruce Paltrow died of throat cancer in 2002.

Gwyneth seems to be one of those celebs people either love or hate. I like her if for no other reason than that �Emma� is one of my favorite movies:

The Beach House in �Something�s Gotta Give�

Afriend took me to see Something�s Gotta Give when it first hit theaters. I knew it was a Diane Keaton-Jack Nicholson romantic comedy. What I didn�t expect was to fall in love with the Hamptons beach house Keaton�s character lives in. I went back to see it again a week later, just to get a better look at that house.

It wasn�t until I started blogging that I realized I wasn�t alone in my obsession with theSomething�s Gotta Give house. For all of my readers who asked me to post photos of it�this one�s for you.

The exterior is a real house somewhere in the Hamptons (Long Island), but the interiors were all created on a soundstage.

The Living Room:

The movie was written by Nancy Meyers, who has had her hand in other great �house movies� I�ve featured, like It�s Complicated, The Holiday, The Parent Trap, Father of the Bride, and Baby Boom (click here to see photos from those movies, too).

The Production Design was done by Jon Hutman (who also worked on The Holiday), and the Set Decoration was by Beth Rubino (It�s Complicated).

Don�t even ask what paint colors were used (I have already been flooded with e-mails on the topic). Set Decorator Beth Rubino says they were custom-mixed colors that were designed to look good on screen. The lighting is different on a set than it is in a house, so even we used the same paint, she says, it wouldn�t look the same.

We were building our house when this movie came out. Thanks to Something�s Gotta Give, I�ve got a kitchen with white cabinets, black countertops, and dark floors. I copied as much of it as I could! I later found out I wasn�t the only one inspired by it. Every home show I went to the following year seemed to have its own version of this look:

As a writer who works from home myself, I swooned over Erica Barry�s home office. Those windows! Those built-in-bookshelves! This is one of my favorite spots in her house:

Diane Keaton was nominated for Best Actress for this role at the 2004 Oscars and won a Golden Globe.

After Harry leaves her, Erica can�t stop crying�but she does get a lot of writing done!
