Inside Ellen DeGeneres Beverly Hills estate

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi

The design-savvy stars transform a Beverly Hills estate into a home that is perfectif perhaps not permanent

Portia de Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres at their Beverly Hills house, which was designed by architects Buff & Hensman and later expanded by decorator Melinda Ritz. In a sitting area adjacent to the kitchen, an 18th-century French worktable is paired with a suite of vintage bent-plywood chairs by Gerald Summers; the large painting is an Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat collaboration, and the drawing to its left is by Bill Traylor. The cocktail table is 19th-century Belgian, the torchre is by Waldos Designs, and the Kirman rug is antique.

A Ping-Pong table by Argentine artist Rirkrit Tiravanija makes a playful statement in the entrance hall, which features a Spanish Colonial bench from Lief and a Serge Mouille chandelier; the 19th-century Agra carpet is from the Melrose Project.

In the living room, a pair of slipcovered sofas and a cocktail table, all by Kathleen Clements Design, are grouped with Louis XVI bergres; the Avalon blanket is by Herms, and the fringed throw is an antique textile. A mixed-media sculpture by Catherine Willis takes pride of place over the hearth; to its left are a Roman bust and works by Mark Grotjahn and Ed Ruscha. A Ruth Asawa sculpture hangs to the right of the fireplace

Ellen DeGeneres Beverly Hills Home On The Market For $49 Million (PHOTOS)

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have been quietly shopping their impressive Beverly Hills compound around for a while now but it wasnt until recently that it was officially listed for $49 million.

The property is actually a collection of three separate purchases cobbled together into one magnificent sprawl that offers nine bedrooms and an enviable 2.87 acres of prime Beverly Hills land. The privacy-seeking talk show host bought one of the homes from Max Mutchnick, co-creator of the TV series Will & Grace who, according to the LA Times, sold to Ellen in 2007 for $29 million. DeGeneres and de Rossi were married here in 2008 and wedding pictures show the pair frolicking around the grounds. And hows this for a listing brochure? The couple also have a feature on the home in Novembers issue of Architectural Digest.

The property includes a 9,200-square-foot main house, two guesthouses and an additional three-bedroom home. Outdoor spaces include a swimming pool, covered lounging and dining areas and koi ponds.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi List Their Hidden Valley Ranch (PHOTOS)

Just a few weeks back we wrote about the celebrity enclave of Hidden Valley, California. Now it appears that one of the areas most famous couples is moving on. The internet is full of whispers over the fact that Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have been looking to sell their 26-acre ranch. It is reportedly listed for $16.5 million. Ellen bought the property in 2009 when it was listed for $10 million.

Portia de Rossi has spoken often of her love of horses and riding. This property has stables with six double-size stalls which could be divided to accommodate up to 12 horses. A comfortable stable lounge includes radiant floor heat. The property also has dressage and jumping arenas and an adjoining judges stand. The property has been carefully cared for and has an upgraded irrigation system. There are a total of eight contemporary farmhouse style cottages on the property, each with its own style. All cottages are outfitted with high end appliances such as Miele, Jenn-Air and Viking. Other property details include a windmill, tree house and yoga pavilion. A fenced-in tennis court and basketball hoop offer additional athletic opportunities.

Ellen and Portia are veterans of the real estate world, buying and selling all over Southern California. In June of this year their Beverly Hills property was quietly slipped onto the market for $49 million according to the LA Times.

Curbed LA reports that the current owner of the Hollywood Hills home bought it from the estate of the late Australian actor Heath Ledger in 2008. It was also previously owned by Ellen DeGeneres and has been on and off the market in recent years. 0920woodrow6 A Tranquil Retreat With Hollywood History (PHOTOS)
The home has earned the nickname the Tree House because of its secluded hillside location surrounded by trees. It is on nearly half an acre and sits in a sycamore grove. 0920woodrow8 A Tranquil Retreat With Hollywood History (PHOTOS)
The post-and-beam home was built in 1951 and has two bedrooms and two baths. The bathrooms and kitchens have had a modern renovation but the brick fireplace, beamed ceilings and decks give the home a retro appeal. 0920woodrow9 A Tranquil Retreat With Hollywood History (PHOTOS)
