Small house Monserrat: From the top
Some houses catch our eye with their unique form, some offer smart ecological solutions and some are simply pretty. This small house, with its simple, rectangular shape, clings from a mountainside, offering breathtaking views of the Monserrat mountains near Barcelona, Spain. Its location and the way it is positioned make it interesting and appealing.
The house is supported by concrete struts, giving it the impression of floating above the mountain. Its quite compact with a total space of 1,380 sq. ft., and serves as a family home to a couple and their two young children.
Inside, the house is simply decorated a house made to live in. On the first floor, the airy kitchen opens into the living room and beyond to the double-height studio, which offers striking views of the Mediterranean.
A large glass door in the living room leads out to the rocky mountainside. The top floor has a wide hallway that doubles as the childrens playroom.
Outside, theres a 130-foot deck, built with wood left over from cutting out windows and doors, and a childrens playhouse standing six feet tall.

Shipping Container Tourism: Bayside Marina Hotel
Shipping containers are a great solution for building a home. However, they can also serve as an office, a shop and even as a hotel. Take a look at the Bayside Marina Hotel, by Yasutaka Yoshimura Architects, in Kanagawa, Japan It consists of 31 hotel guest rooms, which are made from 40 ft. steel shipping containers.
In Japan the cost of labor and building material are quite expensive. The affordable solution is to import the buildings themselves, not the building material, resulting in low-cost transportation and a short period of construction.
Based on that, in the Bayside Marina Hotel project, used containers were prefabricated in Thailand. Both interior and exterior of the guest rooms were completed at the factory, ready to be transported to Japan.

dug out of a mountainside
Wow, this house is truly phenomenal! One of the eras modern masterpieces they call it, and they are absolutely right. This contemporary mountain cabin sits among wooden chalets deep in a narrow valley, at 4,100 feet, in the magnificent Swiss Alps.
As opposed to the traditional Swiss style, this 1,700 sq. ft. villa features a more experimental, almost industrial feel combined with an approach of integrating architecture into the landscape.
This unconventional form of building keeps the views open, without obstructing the landscape, while still providing privacy. The entrance to the villa is trough a traditional bi-level barn, which is connected to the house by a long concrete tunnel.
In preparing the site, local builders excavated 36 feet into the side of the hill and poured reinforced concrete retaining wall. They then built a simple shoe box, 52 feet wide, 26 feet deep, and two and a half stories high, and closed the volume with a concave front. This approach yielded a protected patio and a large facade with ample opportunities for apertures.
The seemingly random arrangement of the triple-glazed windows reflects the different levels inside. Common areas look out onto the patio and views of the valley beyond. An avalanche net protects against falls.
Inside, materials like concrete and oak combine with dutch interior design, creating a modern yet inviting living spaces.
Ground floor spaces open up to the patio and are full of light, while the upper bedrooms, connected by a long stepped corridor that runs along the retaining wall, feel very protected, almost cave-like. If youre interested, the villa serves as a rental, offering enough room for up to 10 people.

Forest Home Design in Baraboo
A Forest home design idea by Bruns Architecture, this cool home in Baraboo, Wisconsin has a forest feel to it. The elegant, understated architecture doesnt dominate its natural forest surroundings, but blends rather beautifully thanks to its low profile, simple geometry and layers of wood, concrete and glass. The wonderful use of wood both inside and out highlights the home earthy aesthetic, but in a sleek and sophisticated way. The home is heated by a hydronic radiant heat system the lower-level concrete slab absorbs and stores the heat, which naturally radiates up to heat the main living area. On entering through the solid wood door, the main foyer offers access to a large open-concept plan that opens to the kitchen, dining and living room, all enclosed in glass with views of the forested bluff beyond. To ensure the house feels as cozy as it looks, the building envelope is made of super insulated polyurethane SIP wall and roof panels and high-performance low-E argon windows. Suagr Bowl Cabin: Winter Wonderland
This modern mountain cabin is absolutely one of my favorites. Its located in an old village by the name of Sugar Bowl (gotta love that name), perched on a concrete plinth that lifts the house above the snow-pack ground. The structure itself resembles a box, opening up to its dramatic surroundings a solid, cedar-clad volume, featuring a bent planar roof form and various glass openings that frame views of snow drifts and pine trees.
This two-story snowy getaway consists of several sleeping areas, open plan living spaces, boot room, and service spaces.
The interior design of this contemporary home is as beautiful as the buildings exterior; large glazed openings combined with cream color tones and warm wooden elements. The entire look & feel is of a modern cabin that is both spacious and airy and yet cozy and comfortable.
I love the sleeping arrangement of the double bunk-beds. How smart is that? Having two sets facing one another with a single central ladder incorporated in the wooden frame Such a wonderful space saving solution that also looks great.
Indulge yourself with a hot bath while looking at the piles of snow outside.
The lighting fixtures throughout the house have been planned right down to the tiniest detail, featuring organic forms emitting soft light.

Novita also added mirror material can also be maximized to increase the widespread impression to the tiny house. Other tricks can also be done with a light color to large areas.
Finally he suggested, that function is maintained patio home lighting and air circulation to remain there.
