Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages...step right up to witness tact like you've never seen before!

I don't know much about Olivia Munn, and I always get her confused with some other no name actress that looks like her, but she's apparently the newest celeb to support PETA.  And, as I've noted previously, I support a lot of what PETA stands for and does, but sometimes I shake my head at some of things they come up with.

Well, you've got to love it when a celebrity shows up to unveil their PETA campaign wearing jeans, a t-shirt, and... wait for it ... leather boots.  Leather boots?  Wait.  What?  Oh, I see.  Since the campaign revolves around the circus, I guess it's okay to wear some leather boots that are probably made out of cow or calf.  I mean, it's not like she rode in on an elephant pulling a stage full of monkeys hula hooping.  Well done Olivia Munn.

Really, PETA?

I'm a vegetarian (except for the occasional seafood meal). I'm also fairly active (not nearly as much as I could/should be). I'm also a big girl. Now, I could be a smallish girl if I tried harder. But, there are people out there who are big but completely healthy, and just can't lose the weight. It's true. I watched a show about it a few months ago. One of the women featured was a personal trainer, and she was 5'8 and 200 pounds. Another lived on a vegetarian diet and exercised daily and she was 5'4 and 170 pounds.

I agree with PETA on several things and I disagree with them on several things. I vehemently disagree with them regarding this ad campaign, and I think it makes them look like idiots. Who are they to judge why a person is overweight, but more importantly, who are they to claim that they know what will make them lose weight? Their intentions are not necessarily pertaining to your healthy lifestyle; they want you to stop eating meat because of the ethical treatment of the animals. They could really care less about your life. So, what better way to get that point across than by offending you to take action against them by possibly going out and having a huge steak dinner tonight?

In their press release, PETA stated:

"Trying to hide your thunder thighs and balloon belly is no day at the beach," says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. "PETA has a free 'Vegetarian Starter Kit' for people who want to lose pounds while eating as much as they like."

EVERYONE knows that you can eat too much of anything. Even vegetables. PETA has certainly bit off more than they can chew in this instance.

PETA is very clever

As controversial as they can be, they sure know how to get your attention. Like with their new ad. And, can I just say, whoa. This is Owain Yeoman, who plays Wayne Rigsby on The Mentalist (one of my favorite shows). I had no idea he had that hiding under his shirt.

PETA's new billboard

I don't watch The Hills and I'm certainly not a fan of Audrina Partridge (yes, that IS her above... it's amazing what cosmetic surgery, er, photoshop can do to a person), but she's dead one when she was quoted saying: "Each year, 6 to 8 million unwanted dogs and cats are turned in to shelters, and half are killed because there aren't enough good homes."

"The solution is as easy as ABCanimal birth control. Always spay and neuter, and never buy from a pet store or a breeder."
